1.) Melt Chocolate slowly in double boiler. Be sure to leave 2-3 inches of space between the bottom of the bowl and water level in the pot. Used medium heat. stir occasionally to allow an even melt. Make sure the heats not too high, otherwise the chocolate becomes grainy.
2.) Spread pretzels out over a wax paper covered cookie sheet
3.) Smash candy canes: recommend placing candy canes in large ziplock bag, preferably double bagged and use hammer to crush.
4.) Once the chocolate is melted - add peppermint extract - start with 1 tsp and adjust to taste - making sure to mix thoroughly
5.) Drizzle the chocolate all over the pretzels - cover as desired -
6.) Immediately after, sprinkle the broken candy cane pieces over the chocolate covered pretzels.
