Ways to give back in your community

So much has been weighing on my heart since the results of this election. And in the past week we’ve witnessed some big changes for this country. Yesterday I read an article published by another blogger asking why bloggers have not been using their outlet to strike conversation, omit change, or take action. It struck such a cord with me as I’ve been asking myself, “what more can I do?” Making calls and writing emails just doesn’t seem…

3 kid-friendly dairy free smoothies

SMOOTHIES! Who doesn’t love a good smoothie, especially during the summer. I try to make us a smoothie at least three times a week. Since A doesn’t need much to fill her up I usually just make 1 smoothie and give her a third of it. This is a great option for those picky eaters! I’m always trying to give her healthy options, and on those days she fights me I know a smoothie will work. I…

At Home with babyganics

At the beginning of November I had the pleasure of attending the NJ Baby Expo, and met the NY/NJ rep for Babyganics. When we discussed collaborating I literally jumped for joy, because we’ve used their products ever since A was born. It’s a brand we stand by for our family. So, to get to the point- I was given a box of products to review and today I wanted to share some of my favorites with you.     I…

Holiday Wreath Tutorial

As much as I would love to decorate every inch of our apartment, I realized quickly that wasn’t going to happen with A around. We didn’t have the time, money, or patience to deal with her ripping everything apart. So I’ve gone with a minimalistic approach to a lot of my decorating choices each season. We have a mantle above the fireplace in our apartment, and during the summer I have a large picture hanging above…

Uniting pets and children in the home

Two and a half years ago we adopted two beautiful little kittens and welcomed them with open arms. Being from a pet-free home this situation was met with some challenges, but over the years we’ve grown to adore these two. One is a Male named Guinness, and the other is a Female named Daphne. Oh and did I mention they are brother and sister? They like to spend their days lounging around and their nights partying like…

Babo botanicals baby wash

Allergies run high in this family, and as time goes on I feel like they only get worse. So when A developed signs of a milk allergy, we weren’t all that surprised. Along with her allergy came sensitive skin, and dry patches. I was told the patches were pretty common and her doctor suggested we use Dove sensitive soap. My fiancé had already been using it for a while and it was working well for him.…

Longwood Gardens

Last week Tyler FINALLY had some time off. Our original plan was to spend the week by the beach, but a staycation turned out to be a better choice overall. So one day we loaded A in the car and drove out to Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA. This is the perfect spot for parents! I suggest driving there during nap time (assuming you don’t live right around the corner), and spending all afternoon roaming around. The…

DIY picture display

I’ve wanted to try a project like this for a while, but I could not find the right materials to inspire me. The other day I noticed a little dresser drawer stored away to be forgotten about. I immediately knew what to do with it! I absolutely LOVE restoring household items, and I’m very pleased with how it turned out.  I would recommend sanding the wood before applying any kind of pant, to smooth out any imperfections. I used…

Maze for Daze: Surviving the Corn

It’s Fall! Time for those basic biddies to come out and play, pumpkin spice everything, and trips to the local farm. I’m sure everyone has experienced the annual corn maze that they say takes about an hour, but usually ends up being the most frustrating activity of the day. When you have a little one this can go from family fun to family feud in no time at all. So here are my tips to staying sane when traversing the…
